Enterprise Project

Today Meerkats’ handmade pirate map board games went on sale! The children were all very excited to see the finished product after all their hard work. Some children even stayed for a short while after school with their mums and dads to have a go at playing their game. Thank you to parents for purchasing the games, all the money we have raised will go towards buying exciting things for our classroom. I’m sure you’ll all be really impressed with how much the children know about maps and co-ordinates!

If any Meerkats think of any interesting ways to use our board game, please let me know so that I can share these ideas with the other children. Happy treasure hunting!

Easter Craft Morning

I would just like to say a big thank you to any Meerkat family members who helped out with our craft activities this morning. The children loved showing off their work! They made some brilliant bunny masks, designed their own jazzy Easter eggs and even made their own cards! I hope you all had as much fun as we did :]

p.s. I will put all our pictures up shortly!

World Book Day!

Sorry that this is late Meerkats! Here are some pictured from our wonderful World Book Day celebrations, organised by Miss McGhee across the whole school. In Meerkats we focused on Horrid Henry, created and written by Francesca Simon. We really enjoyed writing a character description about him using lots of exciting disgusting, exciting and unusual wow words! After that we got to do a story workshop with the famous author Karen King which we LOVED. In the afternoon we did lots of creative writing, drama and art inspired by Horrid Henry. We even became authors ourselves and published our own books!

If you would like to see more of the work we did on that fabulous day, there will soon be a display book showcasing work by each child in the library. I’m sure you’ll be as proud of their hard work as I was!

Interestingly pirate play card games in the deck to make them not bored. Most pirate play a violin or a something else to play and dance. Some pirate make a model ship out of wood and to make it better.
Food and drink
Pirate eat smelly horrible and disgusting rotten meat every day. Most pirate drink rum to make the rotten smelly and disgusting meat better. Some pirate drink rum and eat solid hard biscuit when they’re hungry. They eat stew sometime to make them bit happy. Pirate eat salty meat to get them going along.

Kayden

Pirates had to play card games in the cabin and in the day time. Most pirate hated building model ships because it was too fiddly.
Food and drinks
Did you know pirates had to eat disgusting salty and rotten meat? Surprisingly pirates had to eat rock solid biscuits they would be hungry and they had to drink horrible rum.
Punishment
If you broke the rules you would be sent to see the captain. If you broke the other rules you would be whipped with the cat o nine tails also you would be whipped 39 times.

I hope you enjoy their writing as much as I did!

Hexagons in Maths

On Friday afternoon, Miss Atkinson and Miss Ridley did some extra maths work with Emily, Scarlet, Caitlyn D and Olivia. This was much trickier than the work they did in class, but they rose to the challenge and both teachers were extremely impressed with how hard they worked. Here are some pictures of the work they did, what do you think about their super maths work?
