Meerkats’ Class Assembly!

Today Meerkats performed their interesting, dazzling and fantastic class assembly. It was all based on the science, literacy, geography and gymnastics work we have been doing for Pirate Pete. I was so proud of the children because they did all of the hard work themselves! They organised themselves within their groups to come up with ideas and practise them together. The end result was amazing, and it was lovely to see each child play their part. We hope you enjoyed getting to join in with our final song too!

Last half-term…

We were lucky enough to have two student teachers, Mr McFadyen and Miss Sharkey, working with us in Meerkats class. They did lots of work with different children on their maths and reading, and even taught us lessons about something special to them! They left us with a fantastic pirate meerkat which will soon be displayed in our classroom. The Meerkats want to say thank you for all your help, they won’t forget you!

Super Recount Writing

Last half term we spent 3 weeks focusing on recount writing. In our final week, Meerkats gave this genre a creative twist and wrote an imaginary recount from the perspective of Pirate Pete. I was really impressed by Ellie I and Lewis’ Big Writes because they remembered all to use all the features of recount writing (past tense, time signposts and connectives) as well as adding in their own exciting ideas. Let them know what you think of their brilliant big writes!

Ellie I
First I was happy on the seven seas because it was sunny. Then, the freezing, windy and nasty wind blew my map away. Suddenly, there was a storm it was a loud storm. After that, my ship crashed in some white rocks and it broke and I took a long time to do it. I was puzzled and I was…STILL STUCK for even a long time and I was crying for HELP. I was very scared! In the end, a blue bird sent a letter like an F1 car to the Meerkats.

Last week I was sailing through the 7 sea and I was looking for my treasure. Then the wind blew my map away and made me feel worried scared and terrified. Next the waves lifted my boat up. After that my ship sank to the bottom of the sea in the ocean. Then I swam to a island. Finally I sent a message to Meerkats. I hope they will help.

World Famous Meerkats!

Hi Meerkats,

Since we are all such super bloggers now, I thought you might like to see just how many people have been looking at our blog. Here is a map of the world (you’ll be used to seeing these from our geography lessons). All of the countries that are highlighted in orange are the places in which people have been reading our blog! We have fans in America, Cyprus, Bulgaria and New Zealand, how exciting is that? See if you can look up and find all of the places that have been looking at your work (they are written next to the map).

Keep up all your brilliant work Meerkats and I’m sure we’ll have even more followers 🙂

Homework wall of fame!

Well done to Billy, Caitlyn P, Ebony, Ella-Louise, Calum, Grace, Emily, Keeley, Kyle F, Olivia, Scarlet, Kyle B and Theo for completing their education city homework. You all did an AMAZING job, and my tricky odd and even game didn’t catch any of you out! I wonder who else will get their name onto our wall of fame next week…?

If for any reason you can’t log on to Education City, or tried to do your homework but couldn’t save your score, please let me know Meerkats! If I know there’s a problem then I can try to fix it for you, and I know you are trying to do your homework :]

Meerkats in ICT

This half term in ICT we have been learning how to get onto our Meerkat blog! To do this we have had to…practise our typing skills; learn to type very carefully so we can type in the website perfectly; get onto the internet and get used to how blogs are set out. Today in our lesson we are going to be commenting on the different posts to apply all of the skills we have learned. I have two big learning questions for you: what is the most important thing you have learned in ICT since christmas? What have you found easy and difficult?

Have fun blogging Meerkats!

Well done to Billy, Caitlyn P, Emily, Grace, Olivia, Calum, Ella-Louise, Ellie B, Kyle B and Theo for completing their Education City homework. You can all help yourselves to a sticker on Monday for your hard work! I wonder who will get their name onto our hall of fame next week? I have chosen some odd / even games for you (and one is REALLY tricky so I’ll be extra impressed if you can have a go at that one!)

Enjoy!
