Traditional Tales

On Friday, the Meerkats all did an AMAZING job inventing their own version of the tale of The Lion and the Mouse. Their problem sections were extremely scary, but they all thought of a way to solve it and end their story happily. This week we will be publishing our new and improved versions of the story as a book which we are all very excited about!

Here are some of the children’s stories, starting with the ‘Oh no, There’s a Problem’. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did…

Olivia
Without warning the prairie dog heard a horrifying trumpet echo across the Savannah. Just then the prairie dog remembered his promise. Before going to the elephant he collected some things he might need. When he got there the elephant was surrounded by hunters with bows and arrows, cutlasses and more. The hunters wanted ivory to take to the Ivory Coast.
The things he collected were very useful now…A ARMY OF PRAIRIE DOGS! The prairie dogs broke everything but left one and hid it and made it dusty so the hunters ran away. The prairies felt incredibly proud.
The elephant and the prairie dog were friends forever and the closest of friends.

AARR! Without warning the spotty jaguar screamed in fear. Just at that moment the colourful lilac breasted roller remembered his promise. As quick as a flash he flew to the echoing scream and he saw the jaguar trapped under a hunters net. The jaguar was so frightened and his heart was pumping faster than ever while his body was shaking with fear.
Bravely he grabbed the net and pulled it up with all his might while the jaguar was looking out for hunters. When the lilac breasted roller had pulled the net up the jaguar whispered all the hunters over there. Then the lilac breasted roller flew to the hunter while holding the net and he dropped the net on the hunter.
Finally they ran away in so much laughter while the lilac flew and the jaguar pounced along behind him.

Billy
A few days later the meerkat was taking a walk when suddenly he heard an incredibly loud and enormous scream echo across the Savannah. As quick as lightening he remembered his promise and raced like an F1 car. Suddenly he ran into the trip and slipped his feet out. Then he broke the net.
