To all of the dragons, including Tyler!

To Tyler,

We were very happy to hear from you but we are a little bit worried. We like you going to Dragon Training School however we don’t want you to be crunching or smashing children’s bones! We don’t want you to become a horrible or terrifying dragon because we love you so much.

Love from Miss Dale and the Meerkats.

Oh no! There’s a problem.

Meerkats were very shocked this morning to discover that Tyler, our class dragon, had disappeared! Soon after, we found out that all the other dragons in school had disappeared too. We were very confused because we know Tyler loves being in Meerkats class. Luckily, he left us some clues so we were able to guess where he might have gone. Can you leave a comment on this post telling me your prediction about where Tyler has gone? Maybe you could use the connective ‘and’ or ‘because’ in your sentence.

I look forward to reading your ideas!

Holiday Homework

Can I just remind you that Meerkats have been given some homework activities on Education City to complete by Friday 2nd November. There are games than usual, so please make sure they have plenty of time to complete these during half term. I expect the children to have a go at each different activity, as they all build on things we have been learning in the classroom.
Feel free to come to me with any questions or difficulties! Miss Dale.

Creative week!

This week Meerkats have been lucky enough to have a visit from Miss Coulling, a student teacher from Nottingham Trent University. She has been teaching lots of exciting literacy, art, drama and dance session which we have absolutely loved! As a result, we have produced some amazing work including poems, story boards and model lighthouses.

Here are some pictures of us getting creative this week! If you feel like leaving some nice comments about the children’s work the Meerkats would really appreciate it 🙂

Homework

Meerkat’s have had a brilliant day today, we have used up nearly all our boxes building some amazing castles already! I’ll have to make sure I get some pictures before they take them home.

Just to let you know (in case my note doesn’t get passed on) Education City homework has been set up and will need to be completed by next Friday. I will give each child a copy of their login details tomorrow, although these are the same as last year if you still have them.

I think my Meerkats will really enjoy the games I have chosen for them, and they all build on things we have been learning in the classroom so far.

Please let me know if you have any trouble using the website, or don’t have access to a computer at home, so I can make time for your child to complete the work during the week.

Miss Dale.

Our special treat!

Today the Meerkats were lucky enough to spend time with some firemen who were visiting our school! They each had a go with a real fireman’s hose, got to climb in the back and listen to the extremely loud sirens. I also got to try on a fire-fighter’s outfits which the class found very funny. The children all had a fantastic time and learned alot about fire safety, why not have a chat with a child about what they should do in their homes if they hear the fire alarm go off.

See you tomorrow Meerkats!

Help needed!

This week in Meerkats the children will be doing lots of crafty make-it activities (such as building castles and making instruments). This means we are going to need lots of boxes, tubes and plastic bottles. If you have anything available for us to use, we would be very grateful if you could bring it in!

Thank you,

Miss Dale 🙂

Big write

This morning the Meerkats were asked to write some information sentences about different types of castle entertainment. I wasn’t sure how this would go, as we had been so good at our story writing. However, I was very please to find out that my class are also AMAZING at non-fiction writing! Everyone was also able to write for over half an hour silently and independently.

Well done Meerkats! I’m very proud of you all. Have a nice weekend.

Miss Dale :]
